212 km2 of highland landscapes, 1,679 m of climbing and millions of visitors in love with this beautiful place Tatra Mountains National Park
We were commissioned to design an award for the 60th anniversary of the Tatra Mountains Nation- al Park. We knew that it had to be something special, a piece that tells a story…
We decided to “cut up” the Tatra mountains like a cake – so that everyone would get their own unique piece. This idea had to find a form. All the detail fittings, proportions, materials – this all had to work both in our minds and on paper. We were looking for an appropriate solution. The process was a very important part of this project, and the implementation was part of our work. Finally, we came up with a form and then had to work out how to make it real.
Based on a 3D map, we crated a model of the national park. With the help of 3D milling, the project started to take shape. The sculpted areas were cut into pieces and framed within special plates, each fragment inscribed with the exact coordinates of the location. Following a very complicated process of describing and putting all the pieces together – the Tatras once again presented a beautiful landscape. All the boxes have also been marked with the relevant coordinates.
We have designed and produced 500 unique prizes – pieces of Tatra forming one whole. We hope that this is not the end of this design story and perhaps for the celebrations of the 100 anniversary the map will be reassembled.
We design and work with passion. Each project tells a new story. Let’s work together!
